CHALLENGES TO THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF SAUDI FAMILIES IN LIGHT OF THE WIDESPREAD FOLLOW-UP OF SOCIAL MEDIA CELEBRITIES: A FIELD STUDY APPLIED TO A SAMPLE OF SAUDI FAMILIES IN RIYADH
Abstract
The aim of the research is to identify the challenges facing the quality of family relationships, the quality of financial stability, and the quality of family cohesion in light of the widespread following of social media celebrities. It also provides the most important proposals to address the challenges facing the quality of life of Saudi families in light of the widespread following of social media celebrities. This research falls within the descriptive-analytical research style, which aims to describe and analyze the challenges facing the quality of life of Saudi families in light of the widespread following of social media celebrities. The research relied on a social survey method with a sample of Saudi families in Riyadh. The research community is represented by Saudi families in Riyadh, and the research sample includes a random sample of (772) families. The researcher relied on a primary tool, a questionnaire for Saudi families in Riyadh. The research results confirmed that the degree of challenges facing the quality of family relationships in light of the widespread following of social media celebrities came in at an arithmetic mean of (2.58) and a standard deviation of (0.64), with a degree of approval (high). The degree of challenges facing the quality of financial stability in light of the widespread following of social media celebrities came in at an arithmetic mean of (2.66) and a standard deviation of (0.82), with a degree of approval. (High) The degree of challenges to family cohesion in light of the widespread following of social media celebrities came in at an arithmetic mean of (2.72) and a standard deviation of (0.73), indicating a "high" degree of agreement. The degree of influence of following social media celebrities on the future of university students in Saudi society came in at an arithmetic mean of (2.61) and a standard deviation of (0.67), indicating a "high" degree of agreement.
Following influencers and celebrities on social media platforms is a common phenomenon in the modern era. However, the psychological effects of following celebrities can be both positive and negative, requiring all humanities, social sciences, and psychology to study such a phenomenon and its impact on all segments of society, including the family in general.
