THE UNSEEN ASPECTS OF THE MIRACULOUS NATURE OF THE QURAN (I'JAZ AL-QURAN) REGARDING THE APPROACH OF THE DAY OF JUDGMENT: A RESEARCH STUDY

Abstract

This research paper presents the major signs of the approaching Day of Judgment mentioned in the Holy Quran through a scholarly, exegetical, and research-oriented lens, specifically highlighting the miraculous nature of these prophecies regarding the unseen. It elucidates how, fourteen centuries ago, the Quran comprehensively described monumental cosmic events destined to occur before and on the Day of Judgment, such as mountains being scattered like dust, oceans igniting, the earth shaking violently, the sun being wrapped up, and the blowing of the Trumpet. The interpretation of these verses is grounded in the views of both classical and contemporary exegetes, while also incorporating relevant references to modern scientific findings. Within the limits of available scholarly understanding, an attempt has been made to clarify that the events of the Day of Judgment are, in their very nature, extraordinary, transcending the ordinary course of nature, and serve as manifestations of Allah Almighty’s absolute power; consequently, they cannot be entirely subjected to current scientific laws. This study makes it abundantly clear that the Quranic prophecies regarding the Day of Judgment constitute a prominent and compelling aspect of the Quran’s miraculous nature concerning the Unseen. They provide evidence of its status as Divine Revelation, instill in man a sense of accountability for the Hereafter, and inspire a commitment to faith, God-consciousness, and righteous deeds.
