University life can be incredibly stimulating yet it is also a time of increased risk of mental health issues.1 Students will experience more psychological distress than non-students based on academic pressure, finances, relationship issues and uncertainty about the future.2 In low- and middle-income countries, such as India, a lack of affordable services and stigma can inhibit help-seeking behavior even more.3 These challenges serve as a reminder for universities to provide affordable, accessible student-centred counselling in their higher education institution.
