Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) left a significant impact on individuals' mental health. The study, "The Impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on Mental Health: A Mixed Methodology Cross-Sectional Study," aimed to investigate the correlation between ACEs and mental health outcomes using both quantitative and qualitative methods. A questionnaire was completed by 123 participants, revealing a strong association between ACEs and issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD, while also considering factors such as gender and socioeconomic status.
The qualitative aspect included twelve in-depth interviews with mental health patients from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and other private hospitals in Islamabad. These interviews provided insights into their emotional and psychological struggles due to ACEs, revealing patterns of emotional vulnerability, relationship difficulties, and coping strategies. Many participants who faced emotional or physical abuse felt worthless, affecting their mental health long-term.
By integrating statistical data and personal narratives, this mixed-methods study highlighted the need for early intervention and mental health support for those affected by ACEs to improve their emotional well-being.
