ANALYSIS OF REPRESENTATIVE CHARACTERS OF MAULVI NAZIR AHMED
Abstract
Deputy Nazir Ahmad, in his novels, skilfully portrays the psychological challenges faced by his characters, particularly highlighting the struggles that lead Akbari to experience psychological distress. It is noteworthy that his novel Mirat-ul-Uroos holds the distinction of being the first novel in Urdu literature. The author critically examines the attitudes of young women who fail to consider their in-laws as their own family, ultimately diminishing their stature due to conflicts and discord. This article aims to explore the psychological complexities of various characters in Deputy Nazir Ahmad’s works, shedding light on their internal struggles. Furthermore, the novelist ardently advocates for women’s education, emphasizing the detrimental effects of its neglect. In Taubat-un-Nasuh, Deputy Nazir Ahmad delves into the psychological dimensions of his characters, particularly Nasuh, Kaleem, and Mirza Zahir Dar Baig, each grappling with unique psychological conflicts. Through these nuanced portrayals, the novelist not only presents the inner dilemmas of his characters but also underscores the broader societal implications of ignorance, education, and moral reform.
