Abstract

Positive discourse uncovers hidden facts, commands attention, and galvanises support. This study examines such methods in the speech of Palestinian Ambassador Riyad Mansour, focusing on how positive direction in rhetoric drives synergy. Synergy often surfaces in political speeches, especially during crises. Therefore, the emphasis on positive language to boost public support highlights the study's significance. Thus, the  research explores how positive discourse strategies foster synergy during crises, analysing the chosen speech from linguistic, emotional, and evaluative angles. Moreover, the study applies Hymes' Text Analysis Theory (1972), Seligman's PERMA-Model (2012), and Martin and White's Evaluation Theory (2005). Utilising a mixed-methods approach, both quantitative and qualitative methods are integrated. The findings show that many discourses arising during political crises frame positive concepts and illuminate essential issues constructively rather than critically. Such positive discourse shifts audience perspectives, sparks enthusiasm, and creates synergy, engaging listeners and making them feel valued and involved.
