Abstract

This study examined the issue of domestic violence in Kuwait in terms of the concept, causes, types, effects, and legislation. The author employed a survey and descriptive-analytical approach, based on a review of the literature and recent field studies on domestic violence in Kuwait. The main findings of this study are that the most prominent causes of domestic violence in the State of Kuwait are: Economic and living pressures, psychological disorders, wrong socialisation, parental interference in the lives of spouses, weak commitment and religious values, and educational and cultural differences between spouses.
